Sophy Barber is a Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Orthodontist at the School of Dentistry, University of Leeds, within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. She divides her time between academic research and clinical practice, working two days a week at Pinderfields General Hospital as a Consultant Orthodontist.

Sophy Barber is actively involved in academic leadership and professional service. She serves as Academic Lead for Postgraduate Orthodontics at the University of Leeds, supervises undergraduate MChD research projects, and acts as an external examiner for University College London (UCL) and King's College London (KCL). She is also the Secretary for the University Teachers’ Group of the British Orthodontic Society and a subeditor for the Journal of Orthodontics.
