معرفی
Sophie Ward is a Research Fellow at the School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University. She specializes in physical oceanography with particular expertise in numerical modeling (physical and biophysical), sediment dynamics, and marine renewable energy.
- Education:
- PhD - A new proxy for constraining palaeotidal simulations (Bangor University, 2010–2015)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE, Bangor University, 2013)
- MSc - Applied Physical Oceanography (Bangor University, 2009–2010)
- BSc - Natural Sciences (University of Bath, 2004–2007)
Her research focuses on ocean modeling applications related to climate change, sea-level rise, and marine energy resource assessment. Current projects include the Convex Seascape Survey (2022–2027) and NRN-LCEE Returning Fellowship (2018–2019).
Key scientific contributions include:
- Sea-level and climate modeling through the PALTIDE interactive tool
- Blue carbon stock analysis in continental shelf mud depocenters
- Dispersal modeling for marine species and plastic debris
- Tidal energy resource characterization
- Coastal ecosystem restoration frameworks
She has received multiple research grants including awards from the British Council, Nature Networks Fund, and Bangor University. Her work has been featured in 8 media contributions covering topics from Wales coastal flooding to ocean carbon storage.
