Sophie Seward is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation & Sport at Indiana State University's College of Health and Human Services. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Bioenergetics from Colorado State University (2024), an M.S. in High Altitude Exercise Physiology from Western Colorado University (2020), and a B.S. in Exercise Science (Clinical Track) from the same institution (2018). Her research focuses on sleep-circadian disruption countermeasures, metabolic syndrome interventions, and cardiovascular health under circadian misalignment.
Her work spans interdisciplinary areas including clinical exercise physiology, community-based interventions, and physiological monitoring. Notable contributions include studies on glucose metabolism tracking in sleep research and personalized exercise programming effects on metabolic health. She leads NIH-funded research on cardiovascular impairment during circadian misalignment and collaborates on projects exploring menstrual cycle impacts on athletic performance.
Recent publications address shift work health impacts and metabolic syndrome variability.
