Lance Dalleck serves as Professor of Exercise & Sport Science at Western Colorado University, where he directs both the Applied Exercise Science and Performance Graduate Program and Wellness Elevated. His academic home is the Recreation, Exercise & Sport Science Department within the university's undergraduate division, with additional responsibilities through the School of Graduate Studies.
Dr. Dalleck earned his PhD in Exercise Science from the University of New Mexico (2003), an MS in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University (2000), and a dual BA in History and Kinesiology from Western (1997). He returned to his alma mater in 2013 after academic appointments in New Zealand and Australia.
His research centers on exercise interventions for metabolic syndrome, personalized exercise prescription, and high-altitude physiology, with significant focus on cardiac rehabilitation and women's cardiovascular health. His work demonstrates how tailored exercise programs improve outcomes for populations with Parkinson's disease, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular conditions, often incorporating innovative approaches like photobiomodulation and digital health tools.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on individualized training protocols versus standardized approaches, with frequent investigation of the fitness-fatness index as a key outcome measure. His research consistently bridges clinical exercise science with practical community applications, particularly through Wellness Elevated's partnerships with Gunnison Valley medical providers.
- Over $1 million in external grant funding secured
