Sophie Pénisson

Sophie Pénisson, Ph.D., serves as a Research Associate Professor at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), part of City of Hope, within the Early Detection and Prevention Division and Center for Cancer Prevention and Early Detection. She joined TGen in October 2022 following a decade-long academic career at the University of Paris-Est in France.

Her educational foundation includes a French-German joint Ph.D. in Mathematics from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) and Potsdam University.

Dr. Pénisson's research program integrates advanced mathematics with cancer biology, specializing in stochastic modeling of tumor evolution to enhance early detection and risk prediction capabilities. Her work bridges theoretical probability theory and practical biomedical applications, focusing on the complex dynamics of cancer development through computational frameworks.
