Sophie Jané is an Associate Professor at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE), specializing in Business Administration and Management at Umeå University. Her research focuses on inclusion, legitimacy, and sensemaking in organizational contexts, particularly within uncertain or challenging environments.
Research interests include social inclusion/exclusion dynamics, legitimacy constructions, and the impact of trauma on organizational processes. She employs qualitative methods like interviews and fieldwork, integrating lenses such as social-symbolic work and identity theory.
Her work bridges theoretical contributions with practical insights, addressing topics like strategy-as-practice, resilience in crises, and gender equity. Notable publications include explorations of collective trust in counter-institutional organizations and the under-legitimation of research topics.
Teaching areas span diversity, project management, conflict resolution, and research methodologies. She actively participates in academic conferences such as EGOS and the International Process Symposium, contributing to debates on organizational theory and practice.
