معرفی
Sophie Broome is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on metabolic health, exercise physiology, and the interplay between nutrition, exercise, and chronic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes. She investigates mechanisms related to insulin resistance, mitochondrial function, and the effects of antioxidants on muscle recovery and performance.
Her research interests center on understanding how dietary interventions, exercise, and mitochondrial-targeted antioxidants influence metabolic health. Key areas include the role of β-catenin in skeletal muscle insulin resistance, the efficacy of time-restricted eating combined with exercise in managing blood glucose levels, and the impact of mitochondria-targeted antioxidants on muscle recovery and athletic performance.
Recent studies have explored topics such as lifespan extension in mice via PI3K inhibitors and the lack of effect of antioxidants on muscle soreness post-exercise. Her work often employs randomized controlled trials and animal models to evaluate intervention efficacy.
Broome’s publications span journals in diabetes research, aging biology, and exercise physiology, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to metabolic health and muscle function. She is affiliated with the Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Research and contributes to collaborative projects within the Faculty of Health Sciences.
