Sooyeon Jeong

Sooyeon Jeong is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University and director of the Human-Agent Interaction (HAI) Lab. She received her S.B. and M.Eng. from MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), followed by an S.M. and Ph.D. in Media Arts and Sciences from the MIT Media Lab.

Her research focuses on interactive AI agents that adapt to user needs, traits, and behaviors to improve well-being, health, and learning. She specializes in Human-Computer Interaction, Social Robotics, Affective Computing, and Applied Machine Learning, with recent work on deploying relational technologies in real-world health contexts.

Publications highlight trends in social robotics and psychological well-being, including studies on personality modeling, therapeutic interactions, and real-world deployment challenges. Her work bridges robotics, AI, and behavioral health through interdisciplinary research.
