Sookkyung Lim is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cincinnati, where she has been since 2006. Her work bridges Mathematical Biology, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Systems Biology, focusing on fluid-structure interactions in biological systems and circadian rhythm modeling.
- Education: Ph.D. in Mathematics from Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University (2003)
Her research explores:
- Hydrodynamic interactions of bacterial flagella using the Immersed Boundary Method and Kirchhoff Rod Theory.
- Mathematical modeling of circadian rhythms, including glucose compensation, light-dependent phase shifts, and synthetic gene networks.
- Applications in blood flow dynamics, DNA supercoiling, and glioma invasion.
Recent publications highlight collaborations on multiflagellar motility, circadian gene regulation, and viscoelastic fluid dynamics. Her awards include multiple Taft Research Center fellowships and a Mathematical Biosciences Institute postdoctoral fellowship. She has served on NSF review panels, organized international conferences, and advised on grant committees.
