Sonya Permiakova is a Lecturer in British Literature at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's Centre for British Studies. She joined the institution in 2013 as a Master's student, completing her thesis on First World War women's war poetry, which earned her the Humboldt Prize in 2015. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD on British women's war poetry from both World Wars through the Berlin Graduate School of British Studies. Her research focuses on feminism, representation of women, cinematic ekphrasis, urban spaces in literature, and 20th-century poetry.
- Teaching Contributions: Developed courses like 'Literature Workshop', 'Cultural Project Management', and 'Britons in Berlin: The Berlin Myth' (collaboratively with Prof. Gesa Stedman and Felicia Kompio).
- Recognition: Nominated twice for the Humboldt Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020-2021).
Before joining Humboldt, she worked as an interpreter at Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre and taught English/Translation at Perm State National Research University (Russia).
