Thomas M. Meyer is a Professor and Head of the Department of Political Comparative Analysis of Political Systems at Humboldt University of Berlin since 2019. Previously, he held roles as an Associate Professor (2017-2019) and Deputy Head of Department (2014-2019) at the University of Vienna. His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Mannheim (2007-2010) and post-doctoral research in the Austrian electoral study group (AUTNES).
His research focuses on political institutions, government formation processes, political competition, elite communication, and political behavior. Notable areas include the dynamics of party policy change, coalition bargaining, and the interplay between party strategies and media coverage. He contributes to the Manifesto Project (MARPOR) at the Berlin Social Science Center.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals like British Journal of Political Science and Party Politics, emphasizing comparative political analysis and methodological rigor. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies on European democracies.
