Sonja Swiger is Professor and Extension Entomologist in the Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, based in Stephenville. She holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Florida and a B.S. in Biology from Bethany College.
Her research and extension programs focus on nuisance biting flies and disease-vectoring insects affecting livestock, wildlife, and public health. She co-leads outreach for the CDC Western Gulf Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases, developing educational materials on mosquito-borne diseases. Professional service includes leadership roles in the Entomological Society of America and Texas Mosquito Control Association.
