Dr. Eva Buckner is an Assistant Professor and Medical Entomology Extension Specialist at the University of Florida, affiliated with the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (FMEL). Her work focuses on improving integrated mosquito management (IMM) strategies, particularly addressing insecticide resistance and mosquito-borne disease control. She collaborates with state and federal agencies, mosquito control programs, and the public to provide expert consultation and training on mosquito management and pathogen transmission.
Education: Ph.D. in Entomology (University of Florida, 2014), M.S. in Ecology (University of Georgia, 2009), B.S. in Biology (Armstrong State University, 2006).
Research Interests:
- Insecticide resistance mechanisms in mosquitoes (e.g., Aedes aegypti).
- Development of effective IMM techniques.
- Evaluation of novel mosquito control technologies.
- Mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika, and West Nile virus.
