Sonja Livingston is an Associate Professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and teaches in Vermont College of Fine Arts' MFA Program. Her work focuses on creative nonfiction exploring themes of poverty, spirituality, and women's experiences. She has authored four books including The Virgin of Prince Street (Foreword INDIES Award winner) and Ghostbread (AWP Book Prize winner). Livingston's essays investigate intersections of Catholic tradition, social justice, and personal memory, appearing in outlets like The Kenyon Review and Lithub.
Her research interests include marginalized voices, the ethics of memoir, and cultural representations of poverty. Awards include a NYFA Fellowship and VanderMey Nonfiction Prize. Livingston splits residency between New York and Virginia, actively contributing to writing workshops and community programs.
