Sonia Bhalotra is a Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick, part of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds a DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford and has held prior faculty positions at the Universities of Bristol and Essex. Her research focuses on gender, health economics, violence against women, and early childhood development. She has been awarded prestigious fellowships including from the International Economic Association, UK Academy of Social Sciences, and the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant for her work on violence against women.

Her awards include recognition for interdisciplinary work in health and human rights, and she serves on committees such as the Royal Economic Society’s Standards of Conduct and the Lancet Citizens Commission on India’s health system. Her work spans collaborations with law, public health, and psychology, addressing global challenges like domestic violence and mental health disparities.
