Dr Song Zhang is a Lecturer in Banking & Finance at the University of St Andrews' Business School since 2019. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Surrey (2016) and a BSc in Biotechnology from Nanjing University. His research focuses on banking, entrepreneurial finance, corporate finance, and financial reporting, with publications in leading journals like British Journal of Management and Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. He teaches courses on financial markets, risk management, and research methods. Dr Zhang has secured funding from the British Academy and Leverhulme Trust, and his work has been featured in media like the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance. He serves on the School Ethics Committee and previously managed undergraduate admissions for the School of Management.
Key research areas include venture capital dynamics, market structure impacts, and the role of CEO education in IPO success. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to economic growth and financial systems.
