Dr. Xiaoxiang Zhang is a Reader in Finance and Corporate Governance and Director of Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Sussex Business School. Previously, he held roles at Newcastle Business School and King’s College London, where he earned his PhD in finance. He holds an MSc in Investment Analysis (Distinction) from the University of Stirling and a BSc in Finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
His research focuses on corporate governance, financial markets efficiency, ESG disclosure, and emerging markets finance. He has published in top journals like European Financial Management and International Review of Financial Analysis. His work is supported by grants from the British Academy and industry partners including HSBC and the Royal Bank of Scotland. He serves on the editorial board of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and actively supervises PhD students in finance and corporate governance.
Dr. Zhang has extensive industry experience as an investment analyst and board director for local and international companies. His teaching includes courses on investments, empirical finance, and corporate finance at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
