Sonali Perera is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Hunter College, School of Arts and Sciences. She is affiliated with the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute Human Rights Program, the Thomas Hunter Honors Program Council on Honors, and the Department of Women and Gender Studies. At the CUNY Graduate Center, she serves on the doctoral faculty for English and Comparative Literature.

Her research explores intersections of postcolonial literature, working-class narratives, feminist theory, and globalization studies. Recent work examines world literature frameworks, human rights discourses, and socialist ethics in transnational contexts.
Her publications include analyses of postcolonial literary methodologies, feminist labor movements in Sri Lanka, and critiques of globalization's impact on working-class cultural production. Key themes involve decolonial activism, gendered labor dynamics, and ethical narratives in globalized literatures.
Professor Perera has served on the executive board of SAALT (South Asian Americans Leading Together) from 2006-2008 and contributes to interdisciplinary anthologies like South Asian Feminisms and The State of Human Rights.
