Son Tran is a Professor at Texas Tech University's Department of Plant and Soil Science within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He is affiliated with the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST) and maintains the Tran Lab research facility.
Dr. Tran specializes in regulatory networks and crosstalk among signaling molecules in plant responses to environmental stresses, with research focusing on translational genomics to improve crop productivity amid climate change. His work contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable crop production for food, biomass, and industrial applications. His research has significant implications for developing climate-resilient agricultural systems.
With an international career spanning Hungary, Japan, and the United States, Dr. Tran brings extensive expertise in Biological Sciences and Biotechnology to his position at Texas Tech, where he joined in September 2020 after previously serving as Unit Leader at RIKEN Plant Science Center in Japan.
