Chien Van Ha is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech University, affiliated with the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST). His work focuses on evaluating crop resilience to environmental stresses such as drought, salt, cold, heat, and high CO₂ levels, with a goal of developing stress-tolerant crops through genetic engineering and signaling molecules.
Dr. Ha holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hanoi, Vietnam (in collaboration with RIKEN, Yokohama, Japan), awarded in 2016.
Research Interests: His research spans plant physiology, chemical biology, and genetics/epigenetics, with a focus on enhancing crop tolerance to abiotic stresses. He leads projects evaluating stress tolerance in crops like Arabidopsis, cotton, sorghum, soybean, common bean, and corn under controlled and field conditions. His work integrates genetic engineering and signaling molecules to develop resilient crop varieties.
He is part of the Institute of Genomics for Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST), which focuses on genomic solutions to improve crop resilience.
