Solymar Torres-Garcia

Dr. Solymar Torres-Garcia is a Senior Lecturer in the Modern Languages Department at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where she serves as Coordinator of Lower-Level Spanish and member of the Proficiency Initiative Committee. She teaches Spanish language courses and Global Issues, with research focused on Latin American literature and film. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Spanish from Arizona State University (2015), an MA in Spanish from the University of Central Florida (2005), and a BA in English from the same institution (2003).

She has presented academic papers on Latin American literature and film at conferences and is a member of the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Professional service includes mentorship roles with UTA’s MODL Graduate Program and guest speaking engagements.
