Sofia Yasmin is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in Accounting at Alliance Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. She serves as Associate Head of Social Responsibility for the Accounting and Finance Division and previously led the MSc Accounting programme. Her research focuses on critical accounting, NGO accountability, auditing, and sustainability, particularly in contexts where governance and accountability are contested or evolving.
Her work bridges institutional logics and ethical frameworks, examining how NGOs navigate partnerships with corporations and govern community-based initiatives. She critiques conventional financial systems through intersectional lenses and explores accountability mechanisms in faith-based organizations.
Recent publications highlight themes like NGO-corporate accountability dynamics, financial inequality in the UK, and audit committee influences on earnings management. Her research appears in top journals such as Journal of Business Ethics and Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal.
