Sofia Eleftheriadou is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Manchester Institute of Education (part of the University of Manchester’s School of Environment, Education and Development). Her research focuses on educational assessment, quantitative methods, and systematic reviews. She has contributed to projects funded by organizations including the Education Endowment Foundation, the British Academy, and the Joint Mathematical Council.
Her academic background includes a PhD (validated in 2023) supervised by Professors Jeremy Williams, Maria Pampaka, and Adrian Cernat. She has taught quantitative methods and research literacy at the postgraduate level, including units like EDUC60452 Research Methods II and EVDV70022 Quantitative Methods.
Her work addresses topics such as socioeconomic disadvantage and attainment gaps, financial literacy among UK students, and gender dynamics in mathematics education. Recent publications include a commissioned report on mathematics education (2022) and a peer-reviewed journal article on collaborative problem-solving metrics (2020).
Awards include shortlisting for the BERA 2020 Early Career Researcher Award and recognition through the ESRC PhD Studentship. She co-convenes the European Educational Research Association’s Emerging Researchers’ Group.
