Sofia Dahlgren is an Associate Professor at Linköping University's Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), affiliated with the Division of Environmental Technology and Management. Her research focuses on renewable energy transitions, particularly the role of biogas in transportation (buses, trucks, marine shipping) and manufacturing industries. She emphasizes biogas' complementary role alongside electrification in achieving fossil-free energy systems.
Teaching includes courses on environmental engineering (TKMJ24), sustainable development and entrepreneurship (TKMJ51), and sustainable city development (TKMJ48). She supervises bachelor and master student theses.
Research affiliations include the Biogas Solutions Research Center (BSRC), a national hub for biogas innovation, and the Environmental Technology and Management group, which explores organizational and urban sustainability transitions. Her work integrates environmental management, policy analysis, and technical feasibility assessments.
Key research themes include evaluating biogas suitability in specific contexts, analyzing adoption barriers/drivers, and developing decision-support frameworks for stakeholders. She collaborates with industry and policymakers to advance Sweden's renewable energy goals.
