Research Focus: Cele's work bridges critical urban geography and cultural studies, examining how subjective experiences intersect with political structures. Key themes include:
- Identity formation through place, art, and gardening
- Children's spatial agency in urban environments
- Non-human geographies and urban sustainability
- Feminist methodologies and creative writing as research tools
Recent Scholarship Trends (2015-2023): Cele's publications demonstrate evolving focus areas: early work (2005-2013) pioneered child-centered methodologies; mid-career research (2013-2020) analyzed gendered and refugee spatial politics; current projects (2020-present) explore gardening as socio-ecological resistance and climate action. Methodologically, she emphasizes participatory visual ethnography and walking-based fieldwork.
