Dr. Smith Azubuike is an Assistant Professor in Energy Law at Durham Law School, UK, with dual qualifications as a Nigerian barrister and solicitor. His research focuses on energy law, sustainability, and risk allocation in the energy sector. He holds an LLB from Rivers State University (Nigeria), an LLM, and a PhD from the University of Dundee’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy. Previously, he taught at Queen’s University Belfast and served as Head of Litigation at Samuel C. Dike & Co. in Nigeria. He currently leads the Global Energy Law and Sustainability journal’s book reviews section. His work spans decarbonisation strategies for African cities, renewable energy governance, and legal frameworks for energy transitions. Key affiliations include the Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy and Law and Global Justice at Durham University.
