Professor Siân Grønlie is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford's Faculty of English Language & Literature and a Tutorial Fellow at St Anne's College. Her research focuses on Old Norse saga literature, the Scandinavian influence on Old English texts, and medieval accounts of Iceland's Christianization. She supervises Masters and DPhil students in these areas.
Her work bridges Old Norse and Old English studies, particularly exploring women's roles in medieval literature and the transmission of religious narratives. Key publications include analyses of Old Testament adaptations in Icelandic texts and studies of saints' lives in medieval contexts. She has contributed to edited volumes like The Medieval North and its Afterlife and co-edited Sainthood, Scriptoria, and Secular Erudition in Medieval and Early Modern Scandinavia.
Her academic contributions emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to medieval northern European texts, combining literary analysis with historical context. She holds affiliations with both the central Faculty and St Anne's College, reflecting her dual role as a researcher and educator.
