George Manning is a Lecturer in Medieval Literature at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Magdalen College and St Anne's College. His research focuses on gender, emotion, and neurodiversity in Old Norse literature, including studies of anger in the Sagas of Icelanders. He is currently working on the 'Neuro-Norse' project, applying neurodiversity studies to Old Norse texts.
His publications include a forthcoming monograph Anger in the Sagas of Icelanders (OUP) and chapters in edited volumes such as Saga Emotions and Emotion, Illness, and Medicine in the Medieval North. He also researches Middle English lyric poetry.
