Sisi Zou is a Lecturer in Accounting, Tax, and Audit at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow. She joined the faculty in 2019 and previously completed her PhD in Accounting and Finance there (2015–2019), focusing on social and environmental disclosure in China. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Management (Wuhan University) and a Master of Accountancy (University of Glasgow, with distinction).
Her research interests center on Social and Environmental Accounting and International Financial Reporting Harmonisation. She explores topics such as corporate environmental disclosures, alternative accounting narratives, and the intersection of accounting practices with ecological and social issues. Notable projects include studies on hydroelectric dams in China and NGO advocacy efforts related to river conservation.
Her publications and conference presentations highlight themes of environmental accountability, pedagogical challenges during the pandemic, and critical analysis of infrastructure projects. She currently teaches courses like International Financial Accounting for Multi-National Companies and Social and Environmental Accounting.
Her supervisory interests include governance accountability in China, green finance initiatives, and crisis management perspectives during the pandemic. She advises PhD candidates researching topics such as governance practices in local Chinese committees and green finance accountability.
