Dr. Yanru Zou is a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Glasgow's Adam Smith Business School, where she has served since 2019. She leads the Postgraduate Accounting Programmes and advises BAcc students. Her expertise lies in ethnographic accounting research, practice theory, and the accountancy profession.
Dr. Zou holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Glasgow (thesis focused on audit fieldwork in China) and an MSc in Accounting, Organisations and Institutions from the London School of Economics. Prior to academia, she worked as a tax consultant at Deloitte.
Her research explores methodological insights in accounting fieldwork, listening skills in education, and speculative accountability frameworks. She actively supervises PhD projects on topics like NGO microfinance accountability and value judgment in accounting practices. She teaches courses including Strategic Management Accounting and Audit, Risk, and Control.
