Sirin Sung is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast, affiliated with the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work and the Centre for Inclusion, Transformation and Equality (CITE). Her research focuses on gender, social policy, work-family balance, and qualitative methodologies. She is actively involved in advancing gender equality through academic contributions and policy analysis.
Her expertise spans comparative social policy, with a particular emphasis on gender dynamics in work, family care, and societal structures. Notable research includes studies on South Korean working mothers' care experiences and UK childcare policies.
Dr. Sung has received recognition, including the Athena SWAN Bronze Award (2016) and the Leverhulme Study Abroad Fellowship (2010). She is committed to mentoring PhD students in gender and social policy, qualitative research, and work-family studies.
Her professional activities include peer reviewing for journals like Contemporary Social Science and Children and Youth Services Review, as well as participation in international conferences such as the World Congress of Korean Studies. She has also served as an external PhD examiner and contributed to expert commentary on media platforms like BBC Radio 4.
