Siobhán McGuirk is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Women and Gender Studies Program at Georgetown College, Georgetown University. Her academic work bridges anthropology and gender studies, with a strong focus on social justice, migration, and LGBTQ rights.

Her research explores the intersections of migration, gender and sexuality, and state power, particularly in the context of LGBTQ asylum seekers in the United States. She brings a critical anthropological lens to issues of advocacy, human rights, and NGO involvement. Her teaching reflects these interdisciplinary and socially engaged themes.
Siobhán McGuirk has been recognized with scholarly awards from the Society for the Anthropology of North America and American University. These honors reflect the impact and rigor of her work in cultural and political anthropology.
She is actively involved in public scholarship, serving as a podcast producer for the Society for Cultural Anthropology and as a Commissioning Editor for Red Pepper magazine. She has also contributed her expertise as a consultant to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) US Office and the National LGBTQ Task Force, demonstrating a strong commitment to applying academic knowledge to real-world advocacy and policy.
