Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State Universityمعرفی
Siobhan Craige, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Her research focuses on understanding molecular signaling pathways linking diet, exercise, and environmental factors to health outcomes. Key areas include intercellular communication between endothelial and skeletal muscle cells, redox signaling in aging-related muscle changes, and high-fat diet effects on bone health.
Education: Ph.D. in Biochemistry and B.S. in Biology from Emory University.
Research Interests: Her lab investigates how cells sense and respond to environmental stressors through redox signaling mechanisms. Current projects explore exercise-induced vascular adaptations, mitochondrial quality control in aging, and sex-specific metabolic responses to dietary stress. These studies aim to uncover pathways for preventing age-related diseases and improving metabolic health.
Awards: Notable grants include NIAMS K01 AR073332 (2019–2024), VT Office of Undergraduate Research grants, and collaborations with institutions like the Karolinska Institute and the Institute of Physiology CAS.
Labs/Teams: Directs the Craige Lab, which integrates molecular biology, cell culture, and animal models to study metabolic and vascular health. Collaborates widely with institutions globally.
