Sing-Chen Lydia Chiang is an Associate Professor of Asian Studies at Boston College, based in the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. She specializes in Chinese literature and cultural studies, with a focus on premodern texts such as strange tales (chuanqi) and their sociohistorical contexts. Her work bridges disciplines including literary analysis, cultural history, and gender studies.
Dr. Chiang holds a B.A. from National Taiwan University, an M.A. from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. Her research explores themes of identity, body politics, and textual categorization in East Asian literary traditions. She teaches courses on Far Eastern literatures, gender in traditional texts, and Chinese philosophical wisdom.
Her major publications include *Collecting the Self: Body and Identity in Strange Tale Collections of Late Imperial China* (2005) and her upcoming *Constructing “Great Peace”: An Encyclopedia of Strange Tales in Song Dynasty China*. She has presented at leading institutions like the University of Michigan and the Association of Asian Studies conference.
