Dr. Sinead Miggin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Maynooth University, affiliated with the Human Health Institute and the Immune Signalling Lab. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from University College Dublin (2000) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (2015). Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of innate immune responses via Toll-like receptors (TLRs), particularly their role in chronic inflammatory diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Type 2 Diabetes. Her work employs proteomics and molecular immunology to identify novel TLR modulators.
Key affiliations include Maynooth University’s Faculty of Science & Engineering and the Kathleen Lonsdale Institute for Human Health Research. Her publications span over two decades, with recent emphasis on cytokine profiling in pre-diabetic states, TLR-mediated inflammation, and non-coding RNA roles in cancer. She has contributed to conferences on TLR signaling and inflammation mechanisms.
Advising and grants: No specific grants or student advisees listed, though her role as Principal Investigator suggests leadership in collaborative research projects. Her lab focuses on immune signaling pathways with implications for both inflammatory diseases and antiviral immunity.
