Sinead Kennedy is a Senior University Tutor in English at Maynooth University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She holds a doctorate in critical theory and modernism from the same institution. Her research focuses on Marxist theory, gender, sexuality, and Irish writing/culture, deeply intertwined with her political activism. Notably, she co-founded the Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment (2013), a coalition of over 100 groups that spearheaded Ireland’s successful 2018 referendum to remove restrictive abortion laws. She served as Head of Research for the Together for Yes campaign, a pivotal role in the national civil society effort.
Education: Doctorate in Critical Theory and Modernism (Maynooth University).
Research Interests: Kennedy’s work bridges academic scholarship and grassroots activism. Key areas include:
