Simone Reber is a Researcher at the IRI Life Sciences of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, leading the independent research group Quantitative Biology. Her work integrates experimental and theoretical approaches to study spindle assembly and mitotic regulation, supported by funding from the DFG Excellence Initiative and a Princeton-Humboldt Strategic Partnership grant.
Education:
- Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Heidelberg, University of Washington, and ETH Zurich
- Diploma thesis with Michael Knop at EMBL
- PhD at University of Heidelberg under Oliver Gruss
Research Interests: Simone explores the principles of spindle assembly, self-organization in cellular processes, and mitotic regulation through phosphorylation. Her lab bridges experimental biology with systems biology and theoretical analysis.
Scientific Awards & Honors:
- Elected to Young Leaders in Science by the Schering Stiftung
- Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin
Grants & Collaborations: Funded by DFG Excellence Initiative, she collaborates with Cliff Brangwynne (Princeton) and Sabine Petry (Humboldt University) via the Princeton-Humboldt Strategic Partnership grant. Participated in EU Framework Programmes FP6 (MitoCheck) and FP7 (MitoSys).
