Simone Dietz

Prof. Dr. Simone Dietz is a Professor of Practical Philosophy at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Philosophy. Her work bridges Social Philosophy, Political Philosophy, Cultural Philosophy, Ethics, Legal Philosophy, and Critical Theory of Society. She specializes in the ethical implications of social relations, media ethics, lying in linguistic and moral contexts, and public space in modern societies.

• Education: Magister degree in Philosophy, Political Science, German Language/Literature, and Computer Science (University of Hamburg); Doctorate (1990, University of Hamburg) on 'Lifeworld and System'; Habilitation (2001, University of Rostock) on 'The Value of Lies'.

Her research investigates truth-telling rituals in media society, digital privacy boundaries, and the moral economy of lying. She analyzes public-private spheres, media reality, and the paradox of truthfulness through interdisciplinary lenses combining philosophy, political theory, and media praxeology.

Notable lectures include 'Bullshit, Lies, and Mendacity in the Democratic Public Sphere' (2014), 'Weltverlust und Medienwirklichkeit' (2005), and 'Sagen, Glauben, Lügen: Moores Paradox' (2000). Her media engagement spans television/radio appearances on truth, privacy, and political deception (2003-2012).
