Dr. Halina Henn is a Researcher at the Faculty of Philosophy of Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, affiliated with the Department of Communication and Media Studies. She is currently on parental leave from her role as a research assistant at the Chair of Communication and Media Studies III.
Education:
- Master of Arts in Political Communication from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (2016-2018)
- Bachelor of Science in Communication Science from University of Hohenheim (2009-2013), with Erasmus semester at Università degli Studi di Milano (2011)
Her research focuses on political communication in digital environments, particularly analyzing the role of social media influencers in public discourse. Combining opinion leadership research with Habermasian public sphere theory, she examines how influencers shape political narratives through content analysis and surveys. Her work provides frameworks for understanding the professionalization of political influencers and their impact on democratic communication.
Recent publications explore YouTube-based political communication, distinguishing between layperson and professional influencer strategies. She contributes to debates on the evolving boundaries between entertainment and political discourse in digital media.
