Simona Tarozzi is an Associate Professor of Roman Law and Legal Antiquity at the University of Trento's Department of Legal Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Padova (2003) and has held academic positions at the University of Bologna since 2006, transitioning to Trento in 2022. Her expertise spans Roman legal texts (400–900 CE), late antique legal practices, and the intersection of archival studies with legal history. She has participated in major research initiatives like the PRIN 2020 project on sustainable land management and organized international workshops such as 'Ravenna Capitale.'
Education highlights include a law degree from Bologna (1995), an archival studies diploma (1999), and extensive archival work in Germany focusing on Nazi-era documentation. Her research combines textual analysis of legal codes (e.g., Codex Theodosianus) with practical applications in medieval and colonial contexts.
Research interests emphasize Codex Theodosianus application in the West, Visigothic legal traditions, and the persistence of Roman legal principles in medieval Europe. She has presented at international conferences including the Accademia Romanistica Costantiniana (2003–2021) and the Société Internationale Fernand de Visscher (2016).
