Dr. Simona Davidescu is a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of York’s Department of Politics and International Relations. Her research focuses on environmental and energy policy in the European Union, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. She holds affiliations with the EU-Asia Institute at ESSCA (France) and participates in energy policy research networks like UACES CRN and ECPR. Prior roles include Lecturer in European Politics at Aberystwyth University (2008-2010) and Teaching Fellow in Environmental Politics at the University of Southampton (2010-2011).
Her research explores EU enlargement impacts, democratization processes, and sustainable development in post-communist states. Current interests include renewable energy transitions and green economy policies in Eastern Europe. She supervises PhD students on topics ranging from energy governance to fusion energy attitudes.
Teaching focuses on global sustainability, energy policy, policy process theories, and challenges in democratizing nations. She welcomes PhD applications in energy/environmental policy, EU energy/climate policy, and East European politics.
Research networks include collaborations on EU energy policy and sustainability initiatives. She advises on pathways to adaptive water governance and fusion energy technology adoption.
