She has held this position since 2020 and previously served as Assistant Professor from 2001-2020. Her research focuses on gastrointestinal pathophysiology, inflammatory mechanisms, and human intestinal organoids as translational models.
- Academic Career: Associate Professor (2020-present), Assistant Professor (2001-2020)
- Education: PhD in Gastroenterological Pharmacology (University of Parma, 1996-2000); Degree in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology (1989-1995)
- International Experience: Visiting Scientist at University College London (1999-2000, 2000-2021)
Her work spans from in vitro/in vivo studies of gastrointestinal diseases to the development of novel anti-inflammatory compounds and organoid-based drug testing systems. Current projects include the H2020-MSCA-ITN COLOTAN program as ESR supervisor. She teaches Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology to Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology students across multiple academic years.
Publications highlight her expertise in Eph/ephrin signaling, CCL20/CCR6 axis modulation, mesenteric ischemia, and drug development for inflammatory diseases. Her laboratory employs advanced techniques in binding assays, pharmacological screening, and organoid cultures.
