Simon Whedbee serves as an Instructor of Classical Studies within the Department of Languages and Cultures at Loyola University New Orleans, teaching Latin, Medieval Manuscripts, and Bible studies in medieval contexts.
His academic credentials include:

Whedbee's research centers on the transmission of Greco-Roman textual practices into medieval scholarship, specifically examining how ars grammatica (classical formal grammar) shaped sacra pagina (medieval biblical exegesis). His current projects involve critical editions of Peter Comestor's Luke commentaries and Hilarius of Orléans' Virgil commentary, bridging classical philology with medieval manuscript traditions. His expertise spans Latin paleography, codicology, and the intellectual history of biblical interpretation in Europe.
He has extensive teaching experience in Latin language, medieval manuscript studies, and biblical reception history, developed through roles at the University of Toronto's Centre for Medieval Studies and Loyola University New Orleans.
