Simon Thibault is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Université de Montréal. He specializes in political communication with an international focus, particularly examining media reform in post-conflict regions such as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Iraq. His work also addresses contemporary challenges in journalism and media systems within Quebec and Canada.
His research has been supported by scholarships from the Trudeau Foundation and SSHRC, enabling fieldwork in the Balkans, studies in Paris, and participation in international academic colloquia. Prior to his academic career, Thibault worked as a journalist covering conflicts in Afghanistan, the Israel–Hezbollah War (2006), and the Darfur conflict (2004), followed by consultancy roles in development project evaluation.
