Simon Pek is an Associate Professor of Business and Society at the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, and Associate Director of the Centre for Regenerative Futures (CRF). His research focuses on organizational democracy, employee ownership, sustainability-oriented culture change, and workplace democracy. He explores how democratic innovations like deliberative mini-publics and sortition can enhance organizational decision-making and social/environmental goals.
He has published in top-tier journals such as Academy of Management Review and Organization Science. Awards include the President's Chair (2020) and Western Academy of Management’s Ascendant Scholar Award (2022). He serves as an associate editor for Business & Society and Journal of Management Inquiry.
Community engagement includes co-founding Democracy In Practice, leading the Ontario Assembly on Workplace Democracy, and speaking at the Council of Europe’s World Forum for Democracy. His work has been featured in CBC, Global News, and The Conversation.
Teaching includes courses on business ethics, sustainable practices, and alternative organizational forms. Research interests span platform cooperatives, climate assemblies, and democratic governance in organizations.
