Simon Couzinié is a Researcher at the University of Lorraine's Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques (CRPG), focusing on the Neoproterozoic–Paleozoic evolution of the European lithosphere and orogenic magmatism. He employs zircon U–Pb–Hf geochronology and geochemical analysis to study crustal melting, magma sources, and tectonic processes in regions like the French Massif Central and Saharan Metacraton.
- Education: PhD (2014–2017) from Université de Saint-Etienne and Stellenbosch University, advisors Profs. J.-F. Moyen and G. Stevens.
Simon's research spans zircon behavior during crustal melting, post-collisional granites, and Variscan orogeny dynamics. His publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches combining field studies, geochronology, and experimental petrology to unravel the geological history of Gondwana margins and cratonic regions.
His work has been published in journals such as Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, and Lithos, with a focus on granulite xenoliths, detrital zircon provenance, and rare-metal magmatism. Collaborations include researchers from France, South Africa, and Chad.
