Simon Coulombe serves as an Assistant Professor in Community Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada, and is currently collaborating with Dr. David Frost of the School of Psychology (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences) at the University of Surrey during winter and spring 2025.
His research specializes in the intersection of community psychology and LGBT studies, with core emphases on minority stress mechanisms, relationship project dynamics (goals/concerns), and well-being outcomes among LGBT populations. Central to his work is the SHARe project—a large-scale international study directed by Dr. Allen LeBlanc (San Francisco State University)—which analyzes dyadic data from same-sex couples to elucidate how structural stigma influences relational trajectories across diverse sociopolitical contexts.
During his Surrey residency, Coulombe is developing manuscripts from SHARe's inaugural wave, establishing groundwork for future cross-national research on LGBT rights, social policy frameworks, and their tangible impacts on stigma experiences and relationship sustainability worldwide.
