Dr. Simon Cook is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology, specializing in microbiology and materials science. He holds a PhD in molecular microbiology from the University of Wollongong (2014), focusing on bacterial pathogenesis. His career shifted toward biomedical engineering after securing Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funding for developing hydrogel-based Next-Gen Condoms. He leads Project Geldom, managing R&D in materials science, validations, and industrial collaborations.
Research interests include microbiology, biochemistry, and medical microbiology, with a focus on drug delivery systems and biocompatible hydrogels. He has contributed to grants such as the EVE-M Initiative and hydrogel drug delivery projects, collaborating with institutions like the Burnet Institute and Westmead Institute.
Dr. Cook is available to supervise Doctorate (PhD) students and actively engages in cross-disciplinary research teams, advancing innovations in vaginal health, infectious disease prevention, and biomedical materials.
