France Daigle is a Full Professor at the University of Montreal, affiliated with the Department of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology within the Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of Salmonella pathogenesis, particularly the host specificity of Salmonella Typhi and the role of virulence factors in bacterial infections. She leads studies on biofilm formation and bacterial survival strategies within host cells.
- Teaches courses including Microbiology, Immunology, and Bacterial Pathogenesis
- Supervises PhD and Master’s students in microbiology and infectious diseases
- Active in research grants involving CRIPA (Center for Research in Pig and Avian Infectiology) and international funding bodies like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Her lab investigates Salmonella’s interaction with macrophages, comparative genomics of bacterial pathogens, and the development of animal models for typhoid research. Key projects include analyzing biofilm dynamics and identifying in vivo-expressed genes critical for pathogenicity.
