Gianni Renda

Gianni Renda is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Architectural and Industrial Design at Swinburne University of Technology's School of Design and Architecture. His research empowers users in health, disability, and aging contexts through interdisciplinary approaches, with additional expertise in advanced manufacturing and automotive design.

His work investigates co-creation between designers and occupational therapists, digitalization in manufacturing SMEs, and inclusive design for underrepresented groups. Research integrates augmented reality, sustainable production, and user-centered methodologies across health and industrial domains.

Awards include the REDI Fellowship (2022), Dean's Award for School Culture (2020), and international recognitions from Cumulus Association and Design Institute of Australia. Grant leadership spans projects with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Australian government agencies, and industry partners in healthcare technology.

Current doctoral supervision focuses on accessibility in transportation, design-OT collaboration, and Industry 4.0 applications. Research contracts include hydrogel medical devices, lithium power systems, and sustainable manufacturing processes.
